The big river itinerary

Cycling along this cyclotourism itinerary, which goes along river banks and special trails, you’ll live an ’all Padanian experience’ , which will show you the identity and the charm of places suspended between ground and water, unique for their culture and natural environments, no matter what the weather is, be it an autumnal foggy day or a sunny day.The river Po flows slow and majestic for another 100 Km, a kind of mirror for the thick poplar or willow woods, creating little beaches, bays and real oasis for the flora and fauna (an example is De Pinedo oasis). All around it, the Aemilian countryside, characterized by farms and belfries and the crowded and rich flat land, tells us about its old and recent history: that of the pilgrimage to Rome along the ancient Via Francigena, after the ford in Soprarivo di Calendasco, going across Piacenza and Fiorenzuola d'Arda, the folk traditions in the ethnographic museums of Monticelli d'Ongina, the food philosophy promoted everywhere. The master Giuseppe Verdi chose to live in this world, in the romantic Villa in Sant’Agata... Let’s get going!
