Climbing to 2000 around Salsomaggiore

A route dedicated to climb lovers.
Many moderate climbs in just a few kilometres. Featuring some highly demanding stretches but also the opportunity to cut the route as you wish. Starting from the planned arrival point can also be a very interesting option.
Worth a visit
The Pellegrino Castle (see the picture) as well as, along the alternative route, the Romanesque parish church of San Giovanni in Contignaco certainly deserves a visit.
Not to be missed
Excellence produce of agriculture in the Apennines around Parma are bread and fine quality mountain Parmigiano-Reggiano. Bread is still traditionally baked in wood fired ovens and it is the true protagonist of the festival held every year at the beginning of June. Also the “King of cheeses” is in turn the protagonist of another annual festival held in Pellegrino at the beginning of July offering the opportunity to fully taste this artisan product in all its goodness.
